Bone Marrow

This morning I headed over to the Grove Medical Centre for a blood test in order to find out if I am the best match for someone (it's anonymous) who needs a bone marrow transplant.

After receiving the letter from the Welsh-Blood service I have been reading the appropriate leaflets and doing a bit of googling to find out more about the donation, although I cannot say from experience (yet) everything points to this being a very straight forward and relatively painless experience (at least nothing worth complaining about compared to the good you will be doing).

Unlike donating blood where (although important) if you don't (or can't) donate it isn't the end of the world, if you don't donate bone marrow when called upon (or don't put yourself on the register) it could very well be the end of the world for someone.

It's very simple, next time you give blood just tell one of the staff that you want to join the register. Job Done.
