Queue of Dream Finks
These are the cast of shapeshifters that inhabit your sleeping dreams, waiting for the light on their side to summon them in to play their parts. One may play the role of you at your most frightened, or at your most forthright. Another may play Sade if she were a white horse with an afro, and queen of the forest. One may follow you through your big dream labyrinth house, or walk beside you in the form of a Viking through the desert. One may be a fox that symbolizes an entangling love affair.
Ella Fitzgerald is singing "Someone To Watch Over Me" to John Wayne in a small satiny nightclub. They're the only ones there. But it's really one of these players, and perhaps Ella symbolizes you, and John is really your father.
They know your childhood home, building it to spec to accomodate your breathless nostalgia. But there are no details. You may be in a kitchen of long ago, staring at a wall of cabinets, one of which contains your baby blanket. Wrapped inside is the skull of the parakeet that died slowly and mysteriously long ago when you were ten. What happened there?
They can speak only softly because if one is too loud, it may startle you awake and they come back here...and nothing happens here but waiting.
