The dragon is stirring

A good win from the Welsh boys in their 2nd match of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. This was always going to be the crunch match for us. Having lost to South Africa by 1 point, we went into this match high on confidence but low on certainty knowing that Samoa have been our banana skin team in the past.

The lads did enough to win against a physical, bruising Samoa team who absolutely believed they could beat us. Final score: Wales 17 - 10 Samoa.

The group table puts us in 3rd position on points behind Samoa but we have the easier run in with Samoa still to play South Africa and us to play Namibia & Fiji. Namibia should be a formality for us but there will be bad memories to trip us up when we play Fiji as they successfully dumped us out of the 2007 World Cup in the group stages after beating us 38 - 34.

So to paraphrase a famous saying: It ain't over till the fat lady blows the whistle on the final group match.

Mmm, hasn't got much of a ring to it that one.
