Actually it's not sunburn, but after a scorching day it looks very much like it! This is a meadow grasshoppers& according to wiki:

They can be variable in colour with green, brownish, purple-red and pink forms recorded, although green forms are most common. Colour forms are genetically determined and some populations can show high frequency of pink grasshoppers

This is the first year I've come across a pink grasshopper in my garden! And what a beauty too!

And YES - Grasshoppers, am I right now.... well a grasshopper a day, keeps madness away... Actually, I just made that up lol ;-) xx
