Walking the Line
Vivian, our wonderful Midlothian Ageing Well coordinator, organised a walk from Penicuik to Eskbank along the route of the old railway line that served Penicuik and its paper mills.
There were 3, 5 or 8 mile walks and over 150 walkers took part with another 50 or so volunteers leading, back marking, serving at water stops or at the soup and roll stop, or helping behind the scenes. We finished at Jewel and Esk College where some students from the Events Management course were there to look after the walkers as they finished.
This group of handsome men were some of the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team who were there in case needed and to entertain with a stretcher demonstration. One heroic lady was determined to reach the end despite being quite disabled with swollen legs and only able to walk very slowly. She made it!
It was inspiring to see so many people out walking the line.
