Blackness Castle
In the service of the Crown from the 15th Century until shortly after the First World War.
For much of this time used as a military prison encarcerating many political prisoners.
A dark place, especially on such a fog bound grey day.
But it wasn't cold. Quite muggy today. The perfect day for my little girl to go on a rough tough girl pirate adventure to Pirate Castle. So off we set. We had a great day hiding from pirates and searching for treasure. Daddy even got to use his camera.
I knew with the grey day and the dark stone it was going to be difficult to get a contrast shot so I thought this would be a great day to try my first foray into shooting RAW, Digital Negative.
An interesting excercise and I am definitely going to try this more as the contrast captured by the camera is great in RAW. I think the extra effort may well be worth it.
Couldn't do anything about a uniform grey sky though. Dull, flat and uninteresting.
For the Edinburghers out there remember that it's the Great Edinburgh Run tomorrow so there might be the odd blip opportunity on your doorstep.
All the best for a great weekend.
