The Michaelmas Dragon....

.... at Garvald, Edinburgh.

This Dragon knew her part
and died dramatically, but willingly,
putting up only a symbolic fight.

But one year the Dragon improvised and fought back.
He laid into St George (or St Michael)
with vigour and enthusiasm
and had to be restrained by six people
allowing St Michael (or St George) to run sobbing from the room.

The dragon said sorry later.
He said he had got carried away.

He and the Saint shook hands
then we had biscuits and juice (or tea).

I love Michaelmas :
No other festival comes even close.
