White flight

Another beautiful day here on the Suffolk coast. We went to nearby Aldeburgh today and did a gentle walk across the marshes and along the embankment of the Alde. A slight detour produced the most bird sightings, including cormorant, curlew, rook, godwit, redshank, kestrel, and oystercatcher. This little egret was the most obliging when it came to posing for photos.
We managed to squeeze in a mooch round the shops of Aldeburgh and a visit to a tearoom in our busy schedule.
This evening, we did another twilight wander across the Heath. It was busy tonight - Exmoor ponies were grazing, the usual contingent of rabbits were scuttling about and on our return route, what should we run into but a large herd of deer with a stag in attendance. We managed to get really quite close to them, and I took a few pictures, although as the light was fading fast and a mist was descending, they were not that brilliant, and at least need a little attention before they are fit to share. Seeing them in the twilight, in the mist was quite a special experience.
Tomorrow is our last day. We'll probably do a bit of pottering round the local area and of course, get packed and ready for an early start on our homeward journey on Saturday.
