Noisy, nosy neighbor

Every man is surrounded by a neighborhood of voluntary spies.

Jane Austen (1775-1817)

Three years now, we have had a Carolina Wren couple choose a hanging plant suspended from the roof of our entryway as their evening quarters, fall to spring. They move in, singing noisily each evening, settling into a seasonal hanging plant that eventually dies after the heavy frosts. I then have to fashion a snug winter bed for them with pine branches and nesting material in the center. This morning there was a racket at the front door, causing both cats to rush for a view. Nelson J. Squirrel apparently stepped up onto the entryway while one wren was waking up. She was horrified and went immediately into noisy attack mode. I was just about to post a chickadee but managed a snap of my noisy seasonal neighbor through the glass storm door.

The Red Sox suffered a historically horrific collapse last night, a nightmare really, it's over, no October baseball for Boston.

Raspberry's pipes are working normally again. Fingers crossed for a good lab report.

For the Record,
This day came in dark and rainy, very humid, downright nasty.
