The camera lies

I put my camera on sunset scene setting and it takes a photo that doesn't reflect the colours that were actually present. Am I alone in feeling that if I take a photo of a beautiful scene it would be nice for that scene to be recorded as seen rather than for my camera to tell me what is beauty and to record the scene accordingly. Back to "auto" mode tomorrow.
