Mr and Dr S.
Today was my lovely friend L's wedding to her man O. We got a lift in to Dalavich in the morning, The Boy helped set up the marquee on the Loch whilst I went and helped the girls sort the flowers.
After lunch we got ready, layered on more midgie spray and headed out to the social club where guests were gathering before being taken down to the Lochside. A glass of elderflower wine whilst we waited and a chance to catch up with friends. As the weather had held out they were going ahead with the outside venue so we headed through the forest to the site they'd chosen. It was beautiful.
The ceremony was lovely. As O is German they had a reading (On Marriage by Kahil Gibran) with verses read in both languages. L & O had written their own vows and after the formal parts, our friend K sang Green grow the rushes she has a beautiful voice, there's something about the Scottish Accent lends itself to song so well.
Whilst photos were taken afterwards there was much silliness. The men proved their manliness to the ladies with a stone skimming competition. The Boy was really good, getting both distance and bounces. There was also some "fishing" using the plastic glasses from the wine. They even managed to catch one.
There were then more photos by the social club before dinner. Great buffet, beautifully decorated hall and lovely company. Speaches were unconventional but lovely. As with any good Scottish wedding the evening was finished off with a ceilidh. The bouquet was tossed and I caught it. To be fair, I was told I wasn't allowed to leave until after I'd caught it so it's hardly surprising it came my way.
