Time for a change

Earlier this year during the horrible period of 'restructuring' (i.e. redundancies!) at work, I decided that, should I find myself out of a job, I would pack my bags and go travelling.

10 years ago I spent a year travelling around Australia & New Zealand with my brother and some friends and I can honestly say that it was the best year of my life. It was something that I have always thought about doing again.

I was fortunate enough to keep my job at work, however, the idea of travelling had gathered a lot of momentum and had turned into thoughts of volunteering in a 3rd world county. Despite being safe in work, I requested a 6 month career break and, to my amazement (and slight guilt), it was granted.

And so I find myself in a position where I have 6 months off work at the end of September. I have pretty much decided that I want to go to Africa and do voluntary work and that I'll probably fly out end of October / beginning of November. Everything else is a hazy blur of possibilities.
