Brian's Bits

One size fits all.

A phrase springs to mind reference Cats and bags.
Ladies' AND Gentlemen's.

Can you imagine buying a
Ford© Ka, Probe, Focus, whatever.
Vauxhall© Corsa, Astra, Insignia, etc.
Peugeot© iOn, 308, Tepee or Van
etc., etc., etc. and finding an identical ''Go-Kart'' engine in every one of them?

You see before you one of a number of Miyota© movements: two different manufacturers, one lady's, one gent's.
I have, in the course of 15yrs, found this movement in virtually any run-of-the-mill watch I have changed the battery in.

''No names, no Pack-drill.'' As used to be said: but I can state, as a fact, that various watch houses will make two versions of the same model. One for jewellers, etc. and one for certain well-known Catalogue stores.

For instance ... I once had to change a battery in a watch identical to ones we sold which would for various scientific (solar) reasons never require another battery for its life-time. It did not contain a Miyota movement, but certainly did require a battery change. It had been bought in that well-known catalogue shop for half what we were selling them for.

Is there any wonder small businesses are dying?
