The House in the Clouds

Our holiday cottage is not far from the picture postcard village of Thorpeness, one of its wonders being this amazing folly. We started our walk to North Warren Nature Reserve from here. As you can see from the picture, despite a misty start to the day, the weather was glorious. We saw a number of raptors - possibly buzzard and sparrowhawk, a lot of corvids - carrion crows, rooks and jackdaws, and some curlews. As ever there were lots of dragonflies around, and we were surprised how many plants were still flowering along the shingle on our return route. From the inland path, we could see a sea fret and as we headed to the coast, we saw a strange phenomenon which looked like a white rainbow.
