Gannet

This gannet was sitting on the boat slip this morning so Ollie and I gave it a wide berth. This afternoon it was still there and obviously something was wrong. On examination it had a broken wing. There is nothing to be done in a case like this except humanely put it out of its pain, which a neighbour kindly did.

Such a shame, they are such magnificent, huge, powerful birds and so amazing to watch, as they skydive straight down into the sea to fish.
