The Virgin and the Bees

While we're on the subject of statues, I thought I'd tell you about the Virgin Mary on our roof. She stands almost six feet tall and has been home to a hive of bees for the past six years.

The bees do us no harm and we're rather hoping honey might start dripping from Mary's fingers.

I'm pleased to see that the sculptor didn't need for his statue to be perfect. She has a hammer toe on the foot that rests on the serpent's head.
