A sign we didn't see.
Pooley Bridge ... Eintrag verboten ... interdite d'entrée ... entry verboden ...etc. etc. etc.
Should have had more bloody sense.
After visiting Pooley Bridge on one of the 3 middle-of-the-week days, when the kids were at school, and failed to find a car-park I cannot imagine what in the name of all that's weird and wonderful possessed us to try it on Sunday.
We'd set off for a tootle around, blip-hunting, when one-of-us (Thereby hangs a joke) spotted a sign for ''Pooley Bridge farmers' market.''
''Go on, lets risk it.''
SILLY MOVE.... Went by one route, pirouetted both car parks, returned by another route and, being a bit chuffed at being able to, now, manufacture a Panorama and keep the EXIF I stopped and shot the land between Stainton, just beyond the dead tree and Penrith, (Far right).
The real pissoff is the fact that we have two half-price tickets for a trip down the lake. We're going to have to rise at the crack of dawn and be at the centre of town before the locals are out of bed to get a car-park.
NEXT question... Will we spend the difference between full and half price on a day's parking?
DUH?!?!?
