Edinburgh University Old College Quad
Today marked the end of what a project that has played a huge part in LH's life over the last year and more.
When LH began working with his current employer, the first job he undertook was an archaeological evaluation in Old College Quadrangle for the University of Edinburgh. The results of this evaluation meant that we undertook a monitored archaeological topsoil strip of the Quad during the development. This excavation unearthed the sort of archaeological treasures, features and structures that an archaeologist can only dream about. LH led the team on this job and it was a real baptism of fire in running his forst big excavation. After over a hundred days on site, the report for the job was written almost solely by LH and totalled over 120,000 wirds at last count. There should also be an accompanying book forthcoming.
Today was the official unveiling of the Quad by the Princess Royal and LH was very kindly invited along with RH. After a private reception/audience with HRH, we moved to the Quad itself where the ceremony unfolded.
RH was excited to see JK Rowling there as well.
Afterwards we went for drinks and a mexican meal before trooping home to Glasgow.
PS this is the first time we have tried playing around with the colours and things on a photo. Works well I think.
