Charming Life

Longing for light, we wait in darkness

Great day off today.
Sophie and Tracy went of to Lihou today for a three day school residential trip.
Daddy did some housework and then took Jonathan to singing lessons after school.
We then had tea, and as it was boys alone we had chips.
Then sat peeling apples while Jonathan had a bath.
Suddenly, plunged into darkness - an hour and a half power cut.
Tracy and Sophie were fine on Lihou, they had a generator! Just the mainland of Guernsey in darkness.
And as vicars do, I sat thinking in the darkness, and the modern hymn Longing for light, we wait in darkness popped into my head.
So a blip of our wind-up lamp seemed appropriate.
We are so reliant on this thing called electricity - maybe there's a sermon in it!
