Log store, work in progress.
This is my first attempt at DIY for a long time. 3 months off work and just as I was about to make a log store, my new job called me in one week early. That's alright, I still had a week left. It rained every day, and the sun used to appear about half an hour before it disappeared for the shift. Was it ever thus?
When I worked at B.T. I was soaked more times than I care to mention. Our sadistic foreman, tarmac Tommy, used to give out the aerial cable jobs, when it was persisistenly raining. With a guy of my weight, bouncing around at the top of a stick didn't half wear out your joints. Most of my mates have joint problems now, and a lot of these have had joint replacements. If I may refer back to yesterday,I really enjoyed my look at the Lowry exhibition. I had to laugh at one of the images of a city gent, lying atop a wall, with his brolly safely parked, enjoying a fag. I heard on Radio Lancashire, that Lowry has been accused of starting the craze for planking.
As an engineer, I got used to having a job, meticulously planned to the nth degree. Now I am not a builder, but I do like to make things as strong as possible. I believe that some people call this, "over engineering." I just hate for my "creations" to fall down, and so err on the side of caution. My brother-in-law, Keith, has been drafted in as a designer, and his suggestions make very good sense. I have heard that the forecast is favourable for the rest of the week, and hope that it remains so until the weekend, which looks to be free from any other major plans. I need to pour a little concrete. Tomorrow, I have to sign a visa application after work, so Wednesday looks good for that, which gives it a couple of days to cure before I have to drill into it. I am a person who believes that the bottle is always half-empty, which with me, is frequently true. I'm just hoping that this plan comes together, as one of the A Team used to say.
Adios.
