Slovakia day 7
Well, Poland really.
The cycling was finished so the sun came out! It did give us a chance to see some of the views we had missed as we headed back to Krakow.
Once there we had time for a short wander around the city centre before a trip to the saltmines.
These mines were still producing rock salt until 1996 but now some of their 300km of passages (about 1%) are a visitor attractions. The chambers have many sculptures to depict the mining and important people connected with the mines and POland, all carved out of rock salt. Even many of the floors have paving of polished salt.
There are also several chapels and a large church with lots of carvings of biblical scenes that look as fresh as when they were carved - which could be a couple of hundred years ago.
The place is lit by chandeliers (electric now) and all the "crystal" parts are also made of salt, quite amazing.
