Mayor of Cuzco (Peru 3/16)
On the third day of our trip, hundreds of uniformed and armed military men and women paraded through the streets of Cuzco. The most important men stood on a cathedral over looking the square. A spattering of tourists and local people watched on, but it was not terribly well attended. After the event, a small cadre of local media surrounded a couple of important seeming figures. I snapped a few shots (you know, foreign press and all) and then asked a local in spanish who it was. "El alcade de Cuzco" he replied, which, I confirmed with my spanish-english dictionary, is the mayor of Cuzco.
