St Helens and Poo

The hot tub must have worked it magic as I didn't seem too troubled after yesterdays fall when I woke today. The weather was great so hit the road to St Helens beach to the sounds of the Charlie and Lola story cd. On the way we had to stop three times for Toddler to get air, though the third may have been due to bordom.

On the first of said stops we pulled over, got out and crossed the road. We were faced with a cliff edge that when we looked over we saw hundreds of bins and containers all in storage. I have never really considered that these things need to be stored somewhere and so this was a strange sight. On the third of the Toddler stops we saw a playpark which changed the mood and then after purchasing a pink net we were ready to hit the beach.

The sun was out and the beach was beautiful. Out came the buckets and spades as we got our architectural skills on the go. This was Baby's first time on a proper sandy beach and at first he was a little unsure of the sand between his toes but after smashing a few sand castles he was well on his way.

After lunch at the beachside cafe we wandered further down the beach and had a paddle. We learned that Toddler like me finds paddling and sand annoying and would prefer a swim whilst Baby like his mother enjoys a paddle more than a dip.

We wandered back through the dunes (that were christened the Dunes of Poo, as they were as pooey as the streets of Pompey). We then attempted rock pooling and found a couple of dead crabs and the odd fish before heading for ice cream and home.

After last nights anti-sleep antics we decided to have a soft play before eating out in an attempt to wear out the little ones. After dinner the little ones really enjoyed sitting in the ornamental pots by the disused fountain. According to Toddler they were their toilets.

Well the plan seemed to work as bedtime was the smoothest so far in the "Wight House" as Toddler now calls it (Home is the black house). So parents got to sit in the hot tub before also falling asleep early.
