In the village

Russians are quick to admit that life in Moscow isn't really Russian life. Most of Russia is still made up of villages, like Ulyanovo, south of Kaluga. Well, they call this one a town - a 'regional centre' even; it is big enough to have a post office, about three little shops and a bus 'station' - and, of course, the compulsory statue of Lenin.
