Foggy

After making a number of comments that we don't get much fog in Brisbane, what happens? This morning it was foggy. Not heavy but heavy enough that I couldn't launch my boat first thing. I went off to get some petrol and bait while I waited it out and decided to have a bit of a look along the esplanade. There were acouple of other very keep photographers there so I handed out a slip of paper with the blipfoto web address in the hope that maybe I could pursuade a few more Australians to join. While there I took this photo. The fog was dispersing into tendrils as the very light breeze and sun combined to see it off. All in all it was very nice.

Jo and I took the boat out at about 7am. I was a bit concerned about the motor because there was a lot of steam behind the boat. There was water going through the motor but I decided to collect my crab pots and not bother with fishing. The engine is due for its first service so now seemed like a good time. On top of that I actually managed to catch some crabs in my pots which had been out overnight. One was of legal size and I had ideas of dinner until Jo asked me nicely to let it go. We packed up the pots and headed back into the harbour.

The highlight of the morning was seeing a Dugong which is the Australian version of a Manatee. The tail is completely different but they seem to be very similar creatures. It was in Manly Harbour which I haven't seen before. Mind you, I have seen Turtles and dolphins in there too. It was a rare sighting. I haven't seen one up close for years.

Now we are off to Dads to care for him for the evening to give andy a break. I took my boat to the marine shop. They don't seem too worried and I am sure it is nothing. Either way it needs a service.
