Keep Waiting Lady!

I'm an old fashioned kinda fella. I'm into people being nice to each, respecting other and doing unto others....and all that jazz. As my old Pa used to say, "Manners maketh man!"

Not sure all the youth of today are on the same page. Some are. A lot aren't even reading the book! But I'm going to be a bit of turncoat tonight. I'd been waiting for a 285 for sometime on my own. A couple of pensioners came out of the hospital dolled up to the nines, just as it turned the corner.

It was already in my mind that I would be offering them boarding ahead of me, but frankly, it wasn't a choice they were going to give me. They simply walked in front of me without any eye contact or acknowledgement that either I was about to offer them or that I had consented to them jumping ahead of me.

Now I was brought up with a maxim of "it's not always what you say but the way that you say it", and somehow I feel that applies here. It was never in doubt (or dispute) that I would be letting them board first. It's what I do. However, normally one expects some kind of acknowledgement, a smile, a wink, a nod, a thank you. One good favour deserves another. So inconsiderate actions and responses are not the sole domain of the young!

Hampton Court was the target destination of our guests this weekend. In character, this Lady flirted with my brother in ye Olde English, requesting he advise her of his intentions as she had been recently widowed and was now the Queen's Lady in Waiting.

I suspect if I see the OAP again waiting in line for the 285, I may be tempted to ask her to keep waiting!
