The view from my hammock.
I've been ill all week with a nasty cold which has now moved onto my chest. Thus I was coughing frequently whilst lying on this hammock at our relatives hotel.
Last night was interesting for several reasons. Have you heard of Ahmet Ertugen, the founder of Atlantic Records who famously signed acts such as Ray Charles, Chakka khan, Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant etc....? Well he was a Turkish man raised in various countries around the world but eventually bought a home on the seafront of Bodrum. He also was involved in the creation of the Montreal Jazz Festival. Around 5 years ago, shortly before his death, a tribute concert was made for him at the Montreal Jazz festival where many of the acts he signed performed for him as a celebration of his contribution to music. Last night Bodrum my husband helped stage the international premier of the film of the concert, screened open air in Bodrum. Ahmet Ertugan's wife and family were present as Vip's along with the founder of Montreal Jazz festival, Claude Nobs. After the screening we were invited to their home for soup and smoked salmon. It was a lovely evening. It could have been ruined however due to a bomb scare, announced earlier in the day, following on from the car bomb attack in Ankara a couple of days ago. News was that 2 bombers were fugitive in the Bodrum area, another had been caught and explosives had been ceased. This rather put me off going out last night, but I weighed it up and decided to " feel the fear and do it anyway"!
On a sad note, a tourist died at our beach yesterday, just behind the umbrellas on my photo, when a jet ski driven by a 16 year old crashed into her dinghy. She was 33 years old.
