The Rickety Man

Sunrise

Just got back from my jollies, in northumberland and had to share this with my fellow blipsters.
I'd decided I wanted to get an uninterrupted shot of a sunrise from nearby St. Mary's light island, so just before 5am, with about as much stealth as a herd of drunken grizzlies, our brave and shivering explorer set off into a chill, star-filled, half-mooned morning. Cameras, binoculars, watery coffee and mars bar in hand.
Past the graveyard (yes! graveyard!) with it's cowelled figures a-peeping through the ivy, ready to pounce at any moment, should our intrepid hero slacken his (walking normal but ready to run at any moment) pace! Out onto the unlit sea front, where the inevitable axe murderer hides in the bushes, awaiting (for years) the arrival of a long streak of pee from lancashire, to exact revenge for a unhappy childhood.
Well anyway, the axe murderer must have froze to death, because I was left alone, to shiver and jog on the spot, to await what I hoped would be a nice sunrise, something I rarely see or sometimes even notice, in this, to-and fro, world.
Gradually the sky started to lighten, while I talked to a little old lady (they're built of sterner stuff round here) walking her dog!
Then with a band of cloud covering the horizon, I took a few shots , thinking the sun was behind them, then all of a sudden the cloud started to clear and the disc of the sun slowly rose into view from below the horizon.
This shot was taken, a couple of minutes in, all this time there is a part of you that just wants to stand in awe and soak up the moment and the other (blip side) that wants to capture it in 2D.
I took a number (loads) of shots from then on, and you can actually see a sun spot, thats to the right in this picture, move across the sun as it rises, (wish I knew how to Blipfolio!) I left the photo with all its imperfections (dust on my sensor, grrr) to show just how beautiful it was. (I'll photoshop it later.)

I know I've gone on a bit, but I may never see this again, and I count myself privilaged and blessed to have witnessed it. If it's an everyday occurence to you, think yourselves lucky.
Some people may never see this and for some it may be the last they ever see.
Count your Blessings!!!!
