New rules
Yesterday, our council came down the street delivering a third wheelie bin to all the houses. It came with a leaflet explaining the new rules of rubbish collection.
I have read the leaflet a number of times and now get that we must wrap all food waste in newspaper and put it in the old green cardboard and garden waste bin. Cardboard must now go in the new blue-topped bin but garden waste can still go in the green bin. Cans must be washed and squashed before being put with the cardboard, paper, washed and squashed cartons, plastic bottles, aerosols and foil. Textiles, clothes, shoes, batteries and engine oil must be put into clear plastic bags but not put in the dry waste (blue top -keep up) bin and placed next to said bin only on collection day.
All other household waste must go into the old grey, non-garden, non-cardboard bin.
What other household waste?
My sympathies go out to anyone living in a flat, or with a small kitchen, or stupid, or arthritic, or old because if the rules are not obeyed, your bin will not be emptied.
