Robert the Bruce

Thursday night and it is late night shopping again. I headed to the city centre, though not for the shops. Like Robert the Bruce my mind was on loftier matters.

Here King Robert seems to be studying a piece of parchment. I am not sure where this would be before or after he defeated the English.

Robert is standing in front of Aberdeen's magnificent new city hall. It was opened a few months ago. The exterior walls used to be part of Aberdeen University. The city purchased the building and removed the interior. Apart from the exterior walls which have been polished up a bit (a lot), the building is completely new inside. When I passed by a year or so ago there was nothing inside, it looked like a strong wind would take the walls down. No doubt all was safe and there was no such calamity.
