The triumph of hope over experience?
Attached, very firmly indeed, to this petal is the anchoring thread of a spider's web.
Earlier today I opened the 'up and over' garage door, to find a pebble danging in my face, attached to a similar thread. (Poor thing didn't know it'd be up and down all day!) They say that this proteinaceous spider silk is stronger, comparatively, than steel. It's not hard to believe.
What I don't understand is how strong the 'glue' must be for the 'casting on'?
(Or maybe it's a round turn and two half-hitches?)
Today also saw the best capture (for me!) ever, of a wasp, actually mid-munch of our garden furniture. If I haven't mentioned it before, they're taking it apart surreptitiously, to rebuild a couple of recliners and some decking for their nest.
I'll try and remember to pop it in my blipfolio under 'macro'.
Then I went to t'supermarket and spent what must surely have been enough to feed a small platoon. Over Christmas. (Cost of living? Don't start me!)
Finished it all off by cutting my tongue on an envelope. Going for a lie down.
