Humans and animals have an ability of getting used to all kinds of harmless stimuluses. It may be a noise, scent or a feeling. As long as the stimulus doesn't hurt you, you can grow to get used to it.
Unfortunately, even if we tried to get used to a stimulus which hurts us, we won't get used to it. We'll always react. That stimulus may be physical, social or psychological. The question is, how do we react?
Do we always have to pretend happiness? It wasn't meant to be that way. Even though you'd hide your pain behind a smile, it's still there. We can't get used to things that hurt us. Sometimes we have to act the way that will hurt us even more - but it will get easier. The pain will let us go after a week, after a month or even after a year. After that you could feel happy again. We shouldn't deal with the things that hurt us - we simply should let it go.
I think studying psychology wasn't THAT useless ?
Have a nice day!
