Inheritance (2)
Photos must be one of the very difficult things to decide what to do with when someone no longer is able to have their own home, or dies. So many photos of people that I have no idea who they are, or why they were important enough to have photos kept of them.
I ferreted this one away when my Nana moved into a rest home. It is pretty special, as it is the one and only time I've seen my great aunt Olga. The 2 boys in the photo are Bernie and Philip, my nana's brothers. Both long gone, they went the family way by blowing a brain haemorrhage when relatively young. Olga, my great aunt is the wee one. She passed away sometime around her 2nd birthday, which makes this very precious to me. She was unwell, I've never been able to pinpoint if it was meningitis or measles or quite what.
The other girl, is my Nana. Tess. As petulent then, as she's turned to be now. I adore my Nana, she's so very dear to me. She's been a huge influence in my life. My other mother. The hours she has sat next to swimming pools, sleeping through kids movies, taking us on the bus/train to child friendly places, having me (and my brother) to stay are phenomenal.
Nana is 87 now. She has one living brother, he was a mere twinkle in his parent's eyes when this photo was taken.
Sorry about the shite quality of the shot, but I've had a long day at work, husband still not home, it is dark out, and I've just put the kids to bed. Grasping at straws much?
