Every morning I admire these chequered lighthouses as I drive to work as they are usually at their best as the sunrises behind them in the east. I decided to try to get closer to get a good vantage point for a wee blip on the way home and was amazed to find that the nearer one is actually on land as I had always presumed from the angle I normally see them from that it was in the river marking the shipping channel. I had a few minutes of glorious peace in the sunshine as it was really quiet by the water's edge. I'm glad I took the brief detour.
