PRICK ON A STICK

Edinburgh council fund quite a few art related projects, directly or indirectly but, they chose to spend more money (50K I believe) on getting a German artist to do this "everyman" sculpture to stand outside there new HQ in New Street.
It was quickly christened the "prick on a stick" by the staff there.

I'm no art expert and nothing against German artists either but, umm isn't it:
A Pretty crap
B A missed oportunity to showcase a local (coonsil funded) artist.
C Playing into the hands of the Evening News and their "The council and all staff are robbing, thieving, wasteful, useless, incompetent, arrogant out of touch twits" campaign?

NB Maybe it's not exactly called that, but something similar..
