Beyond the Black

This sign appeared on the pavement in front of work yesterday and I've been wondering what it means since.

Perhaps some reference to the All Blacks? Are we rapidly approaching saturation point with regard to the Rugby World Cup?

Or is it a reference to a growing disatisfaction with the unofficial uniform of most Wellingtonians - i.e. anything, as long as it's black.

A simple google search revealed that it's actually a New Year's Eve heavy metal festival in Upper Hutt.

Now that possibility never crossed my mind.
