Skagit Valley Flats
Chose this as a contrast to yesterday's backblip of the view of the grey skies from my friend's cottage in the San Jun Islands. Today we woke up to a beautiful fall day and had a fine hike up a nature conservancy trail to the highest point of the island with good views all around. But we also spent some time on the way back to Seattle in the Skagit Valley Farmland just an hour north of Seattle. Came home with fabulous organic local vegies - the corn is barely ripening now, due to the cold summer --it seems so retro now, a farm stand on the honor system - just put your money in the box. It's very heartening. In the spring some of these fields are covered with acres of tulips. Such a wonderful little 2 day respite from busy lives --THANK YOU, R!!
