election fever

tomorrow, zambia will hold it's presidential elections.

it's a two man race now: current president rupiah banda or opposition candidate michael sata.

i bought both papers to try and get some kind of equal analysis. i knew each paper favoured a particular candidate but i had no idea the reporting was so bad. it's not that the stories are biased, it's more that the opposing candidate doesn't even get a mention throughout the entire paper.

the campaigning had been getting a bit messy but fortunately for 2 days prior to the election all campaigning is banned. thank goodness. tomorrow should pass peacefully and then the rest is dependant on the outcome.

the polls aren't favouring either candidate, so it's going to be close. sata is, in my opinion, a fairly evil man so i'm hoping banda stays. however, sata's followers are crazy so if he doesn't win there could be severe backlash.
