Getting nowhere fast...

Marshland-Dad

Hi, I have been handed the responsibility of looking after Blip for today, while Isabelle is away. I knew that it was coming as Isabelle is on her residential trip (which is a week away from home, with school, partaking in lots of different outdoor activities. Brave when you have to rely on the British weather!) I thought to myself 'I deal with situations that some people never see in their lives every day, all I have to do is take a photo and upload it'. Simple......or so I thought.

So, before Isabelle left this morning in a flood of tears (Mum's not hers), I said that I had loads of ideas for photos, like the underneath of her bed to show you blippers the hidden side of Isabelle. This idea was met with a resounding 'NO'. I suggested a picture of the Queen Mary 2, which sailed past our home town this morning. She liked this idea, until I said I was going to post the photo upside down and say it was in Australia. I was told that I had to take this responsibility seriously or mum would be doing it!

Now really I should have spent the day getting on with decorating Isabelle's bedroom, so it is ready for her return on Friday, but instead I have found myself looking everywhere for suitable photos for Blipfoto. Unfortunately the QM2 was too far off the coast to make a decent photo - right way up or indeed upside down! So I resorted to looking back over previous Blips. When in trouble for photo ideas previously, Libby seems to have come to the rescue and provided the perfect shot. To take Libby's mind off the fact that her sister/closest friend is absent, we went out on our bikes to distract her from the absence. Yet again she saved the day with this shot which just made me smile.

For a 'nearly' 11 year old, Isabelle makes me an extremely proud father (as does Libby). Friends have read her Blips and think that it's an adult writing the Blips, not her. Sat here now I discover how difficult it is to keep up her high standards. But as a father I do feel that I should fulfil my role fully in her absence, and embarrass her somehow before she returns!!!!!
