Doggone
One of those days, dog-wise. Basil is limping, following an exuberant game of chase with a very fast dog he met in the woods yesterday, and so I decided to make this morning's walk a short one. Unfortunately, Polly didn't notice me take a different path to the usual one in order to facilitate the shorter route and I didn't notice for quite a while that she hadn't noticed.
There followed half an hour (although it seemed much longer) of searching for the absent dog in the woods with a limping dog who wasn't keen on being carried or dragged on his lead and couldn't keep up otherwise. We were aided in our endeavours by two old ladies who had waited and called down to me from the brow of the hill ("she went that way but it was quite a while ago") and later by five younger ladies and their dogs who called after me when they spotted her running in the distance in the opposite direction to the one I was going in. She then completely disappeared again but at least I wasn't going the wrong way.
Anyway, eventually, when I was about to despair, Polly appeared out of the undergrowth a bit grubby but otherwise no worse for her ordeal and very pleased to see us.
Oh and this picture is just a random passing shot of Buster Ancient Farm , totally unconnected to the above! Love roundhouses :)
