GREY PHALAROPE
After yesterday's non-birding because the RSPB boat was cancelled, G was getting withdrawal symptoms, so we went to Preston to look for the Grey Phalarope. We scanned the river bank, between the overturned car, dumped bicycles, tyres and supermarket trolleys, but with no luck. Then just as I was looking up river, it flew out from beneath the road bridge we were standing on. Once it had settled down again we had great close views of it from the riverbank. A lovely little bird.
Called in at the supermarket on the way home for a few bits and pieces and bought a magazine about mobile homes. I am now going to annoy G by reading bits out of it and extolling the merits of owning one.
