Day 7 - Yosemite National Park

A good sleep meant we were refreshed for the activities ahead in Yosemite National Park. Action gear on (our first trip abroad where we've actually packed proper gear - how we've changed), we had a small breakfast on the balcony then headed to the park, stopping off at a general store for butties for lunch. Parked the car at Yosemite Village and after obtaining our trail map headed east on the Valley Floor Loop, and within minutes were away from the marauding hoards of tourists, most of whom don't leave the main roads in the park.

With squirrels, chipmunks and butterflies for company we hiked for about 4-5 miles as far as Mirror Lake, which gave us a stunning alpine-esque views and was a perfect place for our picnic. We then took the bike path down to the valley floor, which was easier on the legs, and caught the shuttle bus back to the visitor centre where we started our last walk of the day - a loop through the meadows on the valley floor. That earned us a well earned ice cream before we stocked up on tat in the store.

A thoroughly satisfying day, with us both feeling that we'd feasted on Yosemite's majestic sights whilst enjoying peace and quiet in equal measure.
