Blacksmithing

I went to my mate Paul's place this morning to use his blacksmithing equipment. He lives about 50km away so I loaded my steel into my backpack and rode my bike up the highway to his place.

The things I am making are going to take me a few weekends of hammering over the next few months. Today I hammered out the basic shapes. It was hot, hard work. Paul's workshop is quite enclosed, so hammering a piece of steel next to a furnace was exhausting. I drank a lot of water to make up for what came out of me in sweat.

Looking at my handy work at the end of the day, my pieces of steel look like hammered out metal. Nothing special so far.
