This tour guide was explaining about the concept of the Sedan Chair to this group, and holding up a picture by way of illustration. Today was also the day that Bath displays its Jane Austen credentials (not entirely deserved in my view, since she hated the place) and the streets are filled with ladies and gents in regency dress.

A friend and I went to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy this afternoon. I like a bit of cold war espionage, and thought the film was great. Despite moments of sudden violence, it was possibly the most restrained films I've seen in recent years. Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch and just about everyone else are totally convincing.
