gondola-tastic

i was in two minds - tempted to blip one of my laundry/window/street scene shots, but instead i've gone for this rather stereotypical shot of venice. i figured this is only fair - where else do you see this?!

caught up on some sleep finally :) we headed off this morning to catch the water bus to San Marco. lovely, sunny and hot. the water bus is a great way of seeing the city as i was surprised to find you can't walk alongside the Grand Canal.

Piazza San Marco is spectacular. heaving with people and water everywhere. went into the stunning Basilica but sadly no photographs allowed. such splendour.

loving eating outside, people watching and generally soaking up the italian atmosphere. my (real) birthday today so M treated me to lots of lovely food and drink. campari and prosecco are the drinks of the day! ...and also mistakenly ordered calf's liver - thinking i was ordering veal, but missing the fact that it was 'liver' of calf. c'est la vie. rather amusing... i speak spanish, but clearly my italian ain't all that great :)
