Glen Shiel from the Skye Bridge
Mixed feelings today. We said goodbye to the kids as they headed off home. We've had a great week with them and they were good company. Becks will be flying back to the States on Tuesday and we don't know when we'll be seeing her again. Despite them all having driven for years, I still worry about the long journey home, narrow roads then motorways with the chance of heavy showers thrown in, so it was good to hear from them to say they had safely reached home.
To eat up the hours till they rang Tony and I took to the bikes. We pedalled up and over Balmacara, glimpsing views in passing places on the single track road. The downhill was fun and we decided to extend our ride along the main road back to Kyle (which still had great views but was less fun with the traffic). Once in Kyle we still felt fit so Tony suggested we take on the Skye Bridge and have a cuppa in Kyleakin on the other side. I took lots of blips along the route and struggled with which one to upload, but we both like this one taken from the top of the bridge looking towards Glen Shiel in the distance.
After I uploaded this blip, Tony called me out to the small hill at the back of the cottage to see the sunset. This is taken across to Raasay and Skye. If you look closely in the bottom right hand corner you can see the extinct volcano on Raasay, Dun Caan.
Looks better in large.
