This field, with its horizon of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), is just one of several green field sites seriously under threat by developers.

Up to EIGHT HUNDRED HOUSES are proposed to be built on the eastern fringe of Devizes, right up to the actual boundary of the AONB.

Local residents and all the local councils are horrified but the government's big idea on getting out of the recession is to allow builders to trash rural Britain.

I'll post photos of the area that the Merchant Venturers want to ruin at a later date. That involves building a huge housing estate between Devizes and Roundway and at the base of Roundway Hill, historically and ecologically important.
