Mad Hatter's Heaven

We hung out at the Mississippi State's Cullis Wade CLock Museum at Brain Drain toady. I've been there for the first time, and I can confidently say it is my favorite spot in town as of today.

Imagine a series of interconnected rooms, showcasing hundreds of clocks. Most are in working order, though they don't quite run in synch, which makes for a fantastic experience: they start ringing at most random order, at most random times. Some chime ever 15 minutes, some every half an hour, some hourly. Some are early, and some are late. Some play a tune, some just make a "gong" sound. All say "tic-toc", very loudly.

It was quite an astounding experience to be there. Landscape architects and architects seldom get to design with sound (apart of performance venues), and visiting this place certainly made us all ware of how sound helps to define space. I'll bring my design students here; this lesson is not to be missed.
