Skye from Bealach Na Ba
A fantastic day today! We drove out round Loch Carron and over Bealach Na Ba to Applecross. Bealach Na Ba is the pass which rises to over 2000' feet. It is a single track road with hairpin bends near the summit and not for the faint-hearted (learner drivers or caravanners!) I was glad not to be driving as marvelling at the views was, in itself, a mixture of fear and awe. We stopped in the carpark at the top to blip the views and this is one of Skye and the Cuillin Ridge before continuing the precipitous descent into Applecross.
Becky decided to run down so we sussed out the eating places whilst waiting for her to arrive out of the forest. We finished up having a very pleasant lunch sitting on the shoreline outside the Applecross Inn which is well known for the quality of its food.
Afterwards we drove a couple of miles further south and then walked to the beach at Coillegillie which has beautiful white sand, idyllic views, clear blue water and no people. Much paddling and beachcombing took place for the remainder of the afternoon.
I think this will be better in large.
A perfect day has just finished off with dinner at the Plockton Shores Restaurant and we are now relaxing in front of the open fire back at the cottage.
