It's gone...
After a very reasonable nights sleep (thank god for ear plugs) and sharing my camp bed with a starfish called William, for the latter part of the night, we got up at 7am. We both got dressed and then due everyone else seeming to still be asleep we sat in the corridor and played cars.
Anyone who came past got a 'Hello' and a wave from William, promptly followed by some garbled noises as he showed them his venflon. I know he was asking for it to come out.
After hand over the nurse who looked after us yesterday was greeted by William running at her to give her a big hug, swiftly followed by some garbled noises as he showed her his venflon. She promised to take it out as soon as she had done the same to the big boy opposite. William did not leave her side until the deed was done.
We then realised his TTO's were on the ward but were all oral and he was refusing oral meds and was needing suppositories, so the script needed to be re-written. This was about 09.00. By 11.30 it became clear that rewriting a TTO was not a priority to the ENT team and we were allowed to go home, with William fully dosed up, with a promise that we would be rung as soon as the deed was done and the drugs were on the ward.
The call came a 15.00 and William made his Nurse's day. When we arrived back on the ward and he ran all the way along it to reach her and give her the biggest hug and wouldn't be put down until she threatened to take him home.
Carys was a bit funny with me when I went to pick her up from T's. I put it down to a couple of disrupted days and being very tired from school. Bless her, she has had stars for her homework all three days so far. talk about setting standards for yourself.
